Facts About China:

Natural Disasters
In 1976 an earthquake in Tangshan claimed the lives of around six hundred and fifty thousand people.

An earthquake at Yunnan killed over three hundred people and injured many thousands in February 1996. Less than a year later, a quake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale left 44,000 people homeless in Zhangbei (150 miles from Beijing), over fifty people dead and many thousands injured.

At the beginning of 2008 China experienced some of the worst snow storms for fifty years.

Earthquake Relief

All who love China and Chinese people are simply stunned by the suffering in Sichuan as a result of the recent earthquake. One aftershock alone, has destroyed almost 420,000 homes. That's the equivalent of leveling an entire major US city like Philadelphia.

Over 120 million people live in the Sichuan basin! Many workers are already there, assisting earthquake victims and utilizing this great opportunity to communicate Christ's great love for China, blended in both word and action.

Many are genuinely burdened for this sad crisis, and wanting to help, but don't know where to begin. Below are links to some recommended organizations who are currently on the ground in Sichuan and committed to earthquake relief for the long haul.
